Fresh biscuits have become a Saturday and Sunday tradition in my house. Start your bacon in the oven, mix the biscuits, add to the oven with cooking bacon, and scamble some eggs. In 20 minutes you have a home cooked country breakfast that is sure to please.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 6 Tbsp chilled butter
  • 3/4 cup cold milk
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Chill butter for a few minutes (10 minutes) by placing it in the freezer.
  2. Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. After butter has chilled, use a grater to grate the butter into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
  4. Stir butter and dry ingredients and add milk.
  5. Continue stirring until a dough starts to form.
  6. Working quickly turn out dough onto floured surface. Begin shaping into a single piece by folding the dough.
  7. Once in a single piece fold at least 5 times.
  8. Cut biscuits using medium sized cutter or small tea cup.
  9. Repeat folding process a few times with remaining dough and cut again. Repeat.
  10. Bake at 425F for 12-15 minutes until golden.
  11. Serve immediately.
